Sugar and spice and everything nice—MAC is delivering once again with its new collection titled Sugar Sweet. The collection is set to release on March 19, 2009. This collection is sweet for a few different reasons.

First of all, the collection has shadesticks! If you’ve never had the chance to use a MAC shadestick, you are going to want to try one now. A shadestick is a smooth a rich eye shadow in the sleek format of a stick. It brings a whole new dimension to eye shadow application. I love the shadestick and I can’t wait to try the Red Velvet color.

The collection line also includes regular eye shadow, lipstick, tricolor lipglass, mascara, nail polish, mineralize skinfinish, and false eyelashes. It really is a pretty complete collection of everything you would need to create a finished look. I think one of the most intriguing things in the collection is the tricolor lipglass.

This lipglass isn’t just one tone, it includes three different colors. My first thought was that three colors might be too much, but then I thought of how many times MAC has presented something that didn’t look fantastic; it is definitely a rare occasion. I will wait until it comes out to make a final decision, but for now, I will continue to be intrigued. Everything that is rumored to be in the collection is listed below. Radiant in John Galliano, Pinto’s hair is divided into three parts and twisted back into an architectural, couture flower shape on the right side of the head. “This look has a beautiful architecture; hair is twisted back into a youthful, feminine flower shape that complements Frieda’s face shape and stunning Galliano gown.” Here’s how to get Pinto’s look:

Start with Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Shampoo and Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Clay Conditioner.

Mix a cocktail of Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam and Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip. Work the product into wet hair to add texture and volume. “When creating an updo, it’s important to use products that give thickness and body,” said Paul. “Pinto’s hair already has a lot of shine. Fashion Week is Upon Us - And This is the Scoop on Day 1

As you may or may not know, Fashion Week has begun. Right now I am gonna give you the breakdown of the first two days we have been through. It's really been a rush so I am gonna report on what you have missed out on so far :-)

This post is all about the celebrities who showed and shined. Cuz come on, isn't that what we most care about? Ok, this is a repeat from what I wrote pretty much on 2009's potential discontinued items. But what the heck, its 1 AM and I am tired. So if you dont want to read the next 3 sentences jump down and read on. :-) Love :-)

Now I know this is hard, you get a favorite color of eyeshadow or a lipgloss that just makes your lips pop and what happens? It gets canned. It sucks. It's hard. But what can you do but learn that it's coming and be prepared. Being prepared may mean that you are gonna have to buy every last one of that color you can, but eventually - you will run out. Find a good dupe. That's my best advice. Buying on Ebay is expensive and they will eventually run out too. Throughout the year I am gonna be trying to find other colors that pretty much dupe the products being discontinued by MAC.

Now I know this is hard, you get a favorite color of eyeshadow or a lipgloss that just makes your lips pop and what happens? It gets canned. It sucks. It's hard. But what can you do but learn that it's coming and be prepared. Being prepared may mean that you are gonna have to buy every last one of that color you can, but eventually - you will run out. Find a good dupe. That's my best advice. Buying on Ebay is expensive and they will eventually run out too. Throughout the year I am gonna be trying to find other colors that pretty much dupe the products being discontinued by MAC.

James' Notes: Illuminate the face: add highlights to the eyes-brow bones and the inner corners-using pearlized powder then paint lips and nails with high shine gloss and lacquer.

Apply True Matc h Foundation sparingly on the t-zone and cheeks and then blend outwards until the foundation almost disappears into the skin for a natural look.

Tap on True Match Powder after applying foundation using the sponge provided. Focus on the t-zone where your skin will be the most shiny and where your foundation will need most hold.

Apply Blush Delicieux in 151 Old Rose on your cheekbones and the apples of the cheeks.

Apply Color Appeal Platinum Eye Shadow in 153 Metal Plumacross the eye lid, blending it into the outer eye corner and lid line.

Then sweep Color Appeal Eye Shadow in 12 White Gold under the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye to act as a highlighter.

Work the Lash Architect's spiral brush right to the roots of your lashes then smooth to the tips. Don't forget the lower lash line.

Apply Glam Shine Blush in 151 Baby Blush to define your cupid's bow and then fill for glamorous shine.

In with my love of all things Indian/Bollywood related (especially Aishwarya she is great!) To get her look look below:

James Kaliardos calls this look: sophisticated take on the natural look with browns and golds

1. Apply Matte Cashmere Foundation with the fingertips blending from the t-zone to the hairline.

2. Dust on Blush Delicieux in 05 Candy Cane Pink from the tops of your cheek bones, but don't go beyond the apples of your cheeks.

3. Blend the darkest shade of Color Appeal Trio Eye Shadows in 319 Aishwarya Rai along the upper and lower lash lines using the tip of the applicator. Next take the medium shade and blend across the outer eye corner and along the lid. Finaly sweep the palest shade across the eye lid and right up to the brow bone.

4. Apply Contour Khol Eyeliner in 135 Iced Chestnut in small strokes on the upper and lower lash line, extending out slightly at the outer eye corners.

5. Apply the white coat of Volume Shocking Mascara first, working the brush right through the roots of your lashes to build maximum volume, then apply step 2, smoothing the comb right through to the tips of your lashes.

6. Use a concealer like a lip liner. Blend the line inwards, then apply Color Riche Star Secrets in 708 Aishwarya Rai and smooth it out. The color will look fresh and elegant.

7. For added lip color staying power: a trace of lip liner stops color escaping. He recommends Contour Parfait Lip Liner in 656 Honey.

8. For subtle yet classy nails, use the French Manicure Kit.

By now you should of all heard or read about the MAC x Hello Kitty collaboration and if not I’m bringing the party to you here! Last night was the big global launch party to launch her to the world, it was an amazing party! The “Hello Kitty Commotion!” cocktail soiree celebrated the MAC Hello Kitty color and accessories collection, plus there was also an amazing fashion exhibit of “Hello Kitty Creations” designed exclusively for MAC by 30 internationally renowned designers, to create one-of-a-kind pieces that are inspired by the Hello Kitty collection. MAC asked designers to work within the color palette of the Hello Kitty collection of black, grey, white and pink and last night in New York, MAC unveiled the exclusive designs to the world. Aside from all the beautiful one-offs, there were S&M Kitties everywhere- men in Kitty “heads” with bare tops and black patent leather pants, they stood around the entrance taking photos with guests, handing out Kitty bow cookies and at the end of the night gift bags to guests. I shot a video of the fashion designs but excuse the interruptions as it was super packed, I tried my best! And of course a load of pictures! FUN, loved the event!

Ok it's been quite a while since I have done a blog related to MAC's Sugarsweet collection that is supposed to be out quite soon! There is a little more info and a few more pics. Just wanting to keep this one in the back of your mind since the launch will be before too long ( March). Ok Ok, I know this is probably the last installation I will be doing on MAC Hello Kitty Since it comes out everywhere tomorrow. **tear **tear. That is however, until I get all my own personal pieces and review them and take photos on myself and others :-) So I thought these were fitting photos because they are some things that not everyone has been talking about but deserve recognition.

I remember when I first heard about the MAC Hello Kitty Collection, it seemed like it was a million miles away and we could all just guess at was gonna be in the line. Gossip Girl Blair Waldorf's Cell Phone To Match Her Look For Less from Earlier

Loyalists to Gossip Girl would know that this season, the casts' season one cell phones have been replaced with flashier, more up-to-date cell phones. Mizz Blair Waldorf here, you'll note, had an oft-matching orange LG eNV last season, but is now sporting the new version of the same phone: the LG eNV2.

What Blair made fun about these phones is that they both came in black and a few random colors that were limited. Both times, Blair has had the fun color; first orange, and now maroon. This is a great fashion choice even though you would think black matches everything, color is bold and daring (not unlike how Blair's prim siren dresses).
Want to follow in my favorite mean girl's tech footsteps? The eNV2 is available from Verizon for $100 and includes a full QWERTY keyboard, a music player, Bluetooth support, and a 2.0-megapixel camera. And yes, it does come in black for those not as bold as Blair.

MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with Sanrio Global Consumer Products to create a Hello Kitty color cosmetics collection.

The line will arrive on MAC’s Web site Feb. 10, in North American stores on Feb. 12 and into overseas stores in March.

“MAC has been mining pop culture since the brand was founded,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. “This is a sexy and innocent fashion line, and a true MAC moment. In these times, everyone can use a little fun — and a little Kitty.”

While the 34-year-old Hello Kitty character is usually assumed to be a cat, she is actually a girl, according to Sanrio. And a girl without a mouth, so she “speaks from the heart,” the company said. “She may not have a mouth, but she’s going to sell a lot of lipstick,” cracked Demsey, noting that a waiting list for the items will go live on Jan. 7 at maccosmetics.com.

“To me, MAC Hello Kitty embodies the ultimate beauty icon,” said Jennifer Balbier, senior vice president of product development for MAC Worldwide. “She’s sweet and sexy, slightly edgy, and appeals to a wide range of customers. We wanted to reflect that through a sweet side, but also something slightly mischievous when it came to the colors. I started out by creating a palette of pinks, since they fit and always trend well in the spring. And this look is so much about the eyes that we did two eye shadow quads.” The Lucky Tom quad has violet blue, brown, gold and pink-coral shades, while the Too Dolly palette has mint, blue-silver, pale pink and magenta shades.

“We incorporated glitter eyeliners because she loves anything that twinkles, and we took the coral and hot pink theme and did pretty, poppy [colored] blush,” added Balbier.

While this collection is intended to have a sophisticated presentation, MAC hopes to appeal to younger fans with two shades of lip conditioners.

The Hello Kitty offerings fall into two collections: the Hello Kitty Colour Collection and the more high-end Hello Kitty Kouture. The bulk of the items are in the former category: six shades of lipstick with names like Fashion Mews and Strayin’, each $14; six Lipglass shades, each $14; and two tinted lip conditioners, $14.50 each; two eye shadow palettes, which each contain four shades and retail for $38; two shades of pigment are $19.50 each, and two Reflects Glitter stockkeeping units — one blue, one pink — are $17.50 each. Four Glitter Eye Liners, each $16.50, two shades of Beauty Powder, each $22; three shades of nail polish, each $11; a black mascara, $12, and false lashes, $12, round out the color offerings. Shades range from pinks and turquoises to lavenders and greens.

Yeah all us ladies adore getting roses we know that, but what about a more unique rose gift? You wanna see what I mean? Ok here we go:

Its beloved petals are rumored to be making therapeutic skin care remedies as far back as 10th Century Persia. Rose essential oils work wonders for dry, sensitive skin with its toning properties and also has a way in subduing redness. And that distinct, enticing fragrance is known to console shaky nerves and even take form of a mild-sedative. Here are a few products that have us tickled pink!

So we have seen that the new issue of Us Weekly has eight pages of gorgeous official photos from Fergie and Josh Duhamel's (who, I'm sorry - I thought I was engaged to) estimated $1 million rock 'n' roll wedding. We will break it down for you here.

In a white fantasy wedding, Fergie and Josh Duhamel were married Saturday under magnolia trees filled with thousands of white roses.

Fergie, 33, was wearing a Dolce & Gabbana gown, and Duhamel, 36, tied the knot at the Church Estates Vineyards in Malibu.

Fergie carried a bouquet of white flowers studded with crystals as the couple exchanged H. Stern rings engraved with personal messages. Ten bridesmaids were dressed in contrasting black.

Fergie's specially-designed engagement ring featured a 4-carat brilliant cut diamond set amid other diamonds. A narrowed diamond wedding band completed the set. Duhamel's ring was made of white gold with a brushed finish.

The ceremony was followed by a reception in a tent decorated as a forest of trees, with the ceiling covered in lights. .

I can exclusively reveal that all four stars—Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis—and writer-director Michael Patrick King have now signed their deals for another round of Carrie Bradshaw & Co. This show started a style revolution and in my opinion really brought style to the suburbs and stay at home moms like no issue of Cosmopolitan every could.

"Everything was finalized yesterday afternoon," a source reports.

Until now, everyone had agreed to do a sequel, but there were no contracts signed with New Line, the studio behind the megahit.
As it is, King has yet to write a script, but shooting will reportedly begin this summer with a release date sometime in summer 2010.
The actresses AND writer-director Michael Patrick King signed their deals on Wednesday.

The first Sex and the City Movie made $56.8m its opening weekend in the US and sparked rumours of sequels and spin-offs - including Miley Cyrus playing the role of a young Carrie Bradshaw in a planned prequel series.

As a makeup addict, sometimes you just despair at never being able to save any money with the makeup companies always launching exciting new collections every other month. I've barely made a dent in the 7MAC Mineralize Blushes that I bought last July from the Sonice Chic collection and already now the internet forums are awash with talk about the Mineralize Blush duos that MAC will be launching as part of the Grand Duos collection. No wonder there was this pic of a MAC blush called Love Rock in the new February issue of Elle (Singapore)! - Don't ask why I was looking at an Elle mag from Singapore, that involves a lot of mai thais and sun. I was puzzling over it as I hadn't heard anything about the blush duos...and yes this was awhile back. Obviously I have already done one article about Grand Duos but I had already written some of this before and now I have some new info.
Good news is that it looks like another must-have with pretty gold veining. Bad news is that the price has gone up from S$37 to S$41. At this rate of price increases, we'll be paying more than S$50 for a MAC blush in a couple of years. Now that's enough to make any makeup addict cranky!

Here is what MAC says:

I do think MAC got it right on this one. From what it looks like, half is a single color blush that is probably the same formula as the Mineralized Blush. The other half appears to be a gorgeous marbelized shade that complements the blush color perfectly. I could totally see myself swirling both colors for a cheek color with some sheen, or going with the obvious use: Blush on cheeks, pretty-swirly-MSF'ey goodness side for a pretty highlight.

The collection is set to release March 12, 2009.

The Dame Edna Collection for MAC Cosmetics has got to have the craziest and most amusing (or annoying) promotional posters and packaging - glittery light lavender, with Dame Edna in all her "happiness" and flamboyancy! I will be honest when I say I have no idea what they were thinking when they chose Dame Edna as a fashion or makeup icon...I mean we have a plethora of drag queens who love makeup (a bit redundant huh?), who could be a much better choice for a makeup line, but I digress.

I’ve managed to review some of the items of this collection, and they are definitely bold, and colorful!

The Wisteria Eye Trio has the colors Fineshine ( L ), Wisteria ( V ) and Divine Night ( V ). Wisteria is a silvery white color with very fine microshimmer. This would be perfect to be applied on the inner V of the eyelids, or for flamboyant browbone highlighting. This would definitely lift the brows because of its shimmer effect!

Wisteria, is a captivating light blue shade. The shimmer is very low, and I bet it’d look lovely on the lids, on both fair, or tanned complexions. I would think it be best with a white eyeshadow base for a really light blue pop, and if you put a black shadow base on you could really do a quick and easy smokey eye. Divine Night, on the other hand, is a medium black ( not too black ) with medium shimmer ( white ) as well. It was just okay, I think I like the black from the MAC Chill Collection better.

Their lipstick, in Kanga-Rouge, is just perfect because it comes in the texture that I so love - Amplified Creme. Amplified Creme lipsticks glide like butter on the lips, and they make the lips look so creamy and full! The shine is just right, the creaminess just astounds me, and the color, in red, makes me want to run out and put on a Marilyn style dress! It’s a definite candidate for that perfect red!

The lipglass in the collection Possum Nose Pink lipglass is a red-pink shade that looks juicy. It has microshimmers that really make the lips pop out, and give such luscious shine! This would be perfect for a shiny tint during the day, or worn on top of any pink, or red lipcolor for that high megawatt shine and beautiful color.

I haven’t had the chance to post pictures of the highlighters in this collection but I may do that later. I can say that they’re a little bit matte, not flat, and the shine is not too much. They’d make really nice, subtle highlighters, because they have no glitters at all. I’ve been thinking to get them, but I want to focus on getting the complete MAC Hello Kitty Collection, as I definitely have my eyes on that!

Important Artifacts . . . from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris may look like an everyday auction catalog. But the auction itself is a literary conceit: What this book-type object really does is show us the trajectory of a failed four-year relationship — by showing us the physical detritus that two (fictional) lovers leave in their wake.
Conceived and executed by the director of the New York Times Op-Ed page, Leanne Shapton, the story concerns Lenore Doolan (a food writer for the Times) and Hal Morris (a photographer). Doolan appears to have been a clever and adoring girlfriend, who showered the often-absent Morris with confetti-packed envelopes (LOT 1126) and lavender pajamas (LOT 1061). Morris, who had commitment issues and a drinking problem, expressed himself via mixtapes (LOTS 1276 and 1044). What finally drove them apart? Each of the 331 lots provides another piece of the puzzle. Yes, breaking up is hard to do, but reading about it has never been so pleasurable.

My First Big Post With Tips on Makeup Application!! YAY!

Now I have been asked a few times to do actual tips and advice on a specific type of makeup. Like, my insider advice. Please forgive as this is my first try and I will add more later on as I think of more :-)

For my very first post on actual tips for makeup application I thought I would jump right in and tackle the product everyone asks about.....Foundation!

We have all sat and wondered, "Which foundation is right for me?" Whether we are standing at a department store counter, in the drug store aisles or online searching beauty websites, foundations are a mystery and can be costly if you purchase the product and then discover it was not right for you! I am always asked the question, "Which foundations do I use personally or carry in my professional kit?" So, here are the answers and reviews.

CREME FOUNDATION: Tricia Sawyer Beauty makes the best creme foundation I have used - the formula blends smoothly and won't settle into any fine lines or wrinkles. Invented by celebrity makeup artist, Tricia Sawyer, this foundation consists of two colors (a warm and cool tone) which can be blended together to achieve your exact skin tone match. It also has buildable coverage, which means you can use as much or as little as you need to achieve your desired look. Basically after you put on the first layer if you need more you just spackle it on there and it builds coverage without looking grey and yucky. I do like Tricia Sawyer Beauty's Foundation Brush as will insure a great application however, if you tend to have very oily skin using a cosmetic sponge to apply this product may work better. Also, of course MAC makes great brushes and their Stipple brush is amazing for foundation. I dont know why people just started using this brush for foundation....it's so GENUIS!! It's called the 187 DUO Fibre Brush. I highly recommend it. I use this product both personally and professionally. LIQUID FOUNDATION: Makeup Forever HD Invisible Cover Foundation
What it is:
An oil-free medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation that covers skin imperfections flawlessly while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life.
What it does:
Creates a soft-focus effect, designed to meet the coverage concerns of those in the spotlight. It creates a complexion that looks flawless, even in bright or harsh lighting. Let me just preface this by saying: THIS STUFF ROCKS!! I am totally gonna do a seperate blog just on this product - hopefully with videos or photos but until then, just trust me.

Founder Dany Sanz is a total perfectionist and only creates products that work. I keep this product handy for use on all of my clients who prefer a liquid foundation over a creme. And this is not only liquid its HD, High Definition! It's made for actors and people who are on HDTV. You can purchase Makeup Forever at any local Sephora.

I also like L'Oreal's True Match Foundation. This is for you if you are more on a drugstore budget and don't want to be stuck with drugstore quality. It comes in a rainbow of colors with warm, neutral, cool & depth undertones depending on your skin color. It glides smoothly on with a sheer coverage. Doesn't leave your skin feeling dry or oily. This product is carried at all the major drug stores such as CVS, Longs, Rite Aid and Walgreens and also available at Target, Walmart and some grocery stores.

POWDER FOUNDATION: MAC Cosmetics makes one of the best powder foundations available to consumers. It is called MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. I keep the entire powder foundation line in my kit because I found that it performs well for film and television with incredible coverage and because men prefer this type of foundation over a heavy creme or liquid application. I also use it for contouring and for blush because of it's amazing pigmentation. Sold at MAC online, Sephora and other high-end retailers.

I also love Nars Powder Foundation and use it on most of my friends and clients. Provides great coverage and comes in a variety of shades. This is also one that performs amazing on TV. Sold at Nars Online, Sephora, and other high end stores.

TINTED MOISTURIZERS: I love Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer (Oil Free)! It is a wonderful oil free, lightweight, buildable foundation that works with all skin types, especially those with sensitive, oily or acne prone skin. It controls dryness, prevents excessive oil buildup and provides sun protection with a built-in SPF 20. Great for teens! I use this product personally and professionally. Sold at Sephora and Nordstrom.

MINERAL FOUNDATION: There are several products available to you if you prefer a more natural approach to your foundation. Bare Escentuals is the most popular of all the mineral brands and it does a great job in providing the skin with pure ingredients, free of preservatives, talc, oil, fragrance and other skin irritants. It also has a built-in SPF-15 and is a very fine, loose powder. I have used Bare Escentuals personally and enjoyed the feeling and somewhat liked the coverage, but really I didn't think it lived up to what they show on tv. Some people swear by it, but in my personal opinion it doesn't give me the coverage I want. Also, on a professional basis I can not use mineral product because of coverage needs when shooting film, television or print, as well as I have found that mineral makeup tends to have a reflective nature when used with flash photography.

ETHNIC FOUNDATION: If you are a person who has darker skin and have a hard time finding a foundation that matches your skin tone, here are a few cosmetic companies that might have a product to meet your needs:

MAC Cosmetics - has many foundations in creme, powder and liquid form that should have a match for you.

Black Radiance is a drug store brand catering to African American women. This foundation comes in a creme foundation form (in a stick-type formula). It is lightweight and has an SPF 15. You can purchase Black Radiance at CVS, Walgreens and other retailers.

Thevi Cosmetics is an online retailer representing consumers of the Asian, South Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, African and Mediterranean descent. They make an incredible liquid powder foundation with an SPF 15. This product is enriched with Vitamins E and C for anti-oxidant protection and Vitamin A for skin conditioning. You can purchase this product at www.thevicosmetics.com.

I carry the MAC Cosmetic brand in my professional kit and use it on all types of ethnicity's. I have found that in my line of work when I need a heavier type of coverage that this cosmetic line works the best however, I do know several women who swear by MAC for everyday use. (Including me)

A few more foundation lines that I enjoy and use professionally:

Dior, Cle de peau, Era Cosmetics, Prescriptives, Chanel, Visiora, Lorac (these are all in my professional kit).

As with all foundation, concealer or powder, make sure your skin is properly prepped with a good skin care regime and primer (Smashbox seems to be everyone's fav but it actually breaks my skin out...maybe bc of all the silicone in it) prior to applying coverage cosmetics.

TIP OF THE DAY: Creams on top of creams - powder on top of powder! In other words - if you are using a creme or liquid foundation make sure to set it with a translucent powder prior to applying any type of powder blush or shadow! If you are using a creme blush - use right after foundation or concealer and then powder to set!
